Determining the overall cost of defending a case will depend on factors including the particular charges, the complexity of the case, and the estimated cost of disbursements, (out-of-pocket expenses on things such as ordering court transcripts and payment for expert reports). Fees, services and methods of payments will always be discussed during a client's initial meeting with Mr. Rippell, and fees and services will always be clearly set out in a written retainer agreement. Since it can often be difficult to estimate how long it will take to resolve a case, billing will generally be done on a “block-fee” basis, rather than by the hour. This helps to ensure that clients will have a reasonably accurate understanding of what their defence might cost. It also allows Mr. Rippell to take the time to properly investigate a case, prepare his clients for trial, and explain the legal process to his clients without them being concerned about mounting legal bills. If a client would prefer to be billed on an hourly basis, however, that can also be arranged. Visa and Mastercard are accepted, and payment plans can be arranged to fit individual financial circumstances where necessary. |
